Hello Everyone:
Here’s some preliminary news concerning the 2026 Virginia show. There is a great deal of work ahead to ensure a successful outcome.
I’m pleased to announce that I’ve finalized the contract and venue details for our 2026 Annual Stock and Bond show in Herndon, Virginia. As many of you may be aware I have taken over the management of the show from Bob and Judy Schell whose remarkable efforts kept the show alive for all of us for many years – 23 in fact. The location remains as it has for many years:
- National Stock Certificate and Bond Show
- Friday January 23rd – Saturday January 24th, 2026
- Crowne Plaza Hotel – Dulles Airport, Herndon, VA 20170
While I am putting this together, I would certainly be happy to have input from those who wish to provide any thoughtful ideas or concepts which would contribute to the overall success of the show.
As we move into the future, I’m hopeful that all of our aspirations for the growth and success of the field of Scripophily will be met. Certainly an influx of a new generation of collectors with youth and enthusiasm for the field would be much welcome and to be encouraged by all. The digital platforms today such as ebay, online auctions and others offer a great point of introduction and entry for new collectors. The dissemination of articles and other information is critical to the growth of the hobby. The IBSS, as the central organ of the field serves as a highly important point of contact and reference for all collectors, new and old. Shows still provide the opportunity for personal contact and interaction that other means cannot. So, I am hopeful that the National Stock and Bond Show can continue long into the future remaining beneficial to future participants in Scripophily. For my part, if there is enough interest and support, I am committed to continuing the show into the future as long as possible.
For the 2026 show, I’ve contracted the entire Grand Ballroom which includes the third salon which has not been utilized in recent years. Additionally, I have the option to have the room adjacent to the ballroom for an exhibit area allowing all at the show to view exhibits right at the bourse.
Currently I have one guest Speaker who will either do a presentation at the breakfast or, in an expanded format. This remains to be finalized. I’m thinking that if there were to be a few individuals who were interested in giving a talk/presentation, etc. we can have a program to support that.
Website: A new show website is nearly complete and will be live shortly.
Seeking:
Dealers: Obviously the backbone of the show. I don’t have the table rates finalized yet but they will not be more than last year. In line with previous years, the goal is to keep the show and rooms affordable for all.
Exhibits: Would be of interest to scripophilists or potential collectors or gain attention to Scripophily. The more impactful the better! I’m hoping to have exhibits which would be of interest to the press – if we can announce some in our promotions than the goal would be to get coverage.
Speakers: Anyone interested in giving a talk/presentation on a subject of interest to collectors or students of financial history.
In short, the show is an opportunity for dealers to buy, sell and trade stocks and bonds and for collectors to add coveted pieces to their holdings. It is also an opportunity for us all to maintain a lasting forum for the promotion of scripophily.
Regards to all,
Scott Winslow
